Lightweight aluminum Dutch Ovens are perfect for the river. They are 1/3 the weight of cast iron and won't rust, so they're easier to clean and store. But aluminum won't hold heat as well, so works best when shielded from the wind and fired with commercial charcoal briquettes, which provide an even, predictable heat.
